Acceptable Use Policy

1. Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy (the “AUP”) governs every use of RentYourCompute — the marketplace, the residential proxy product, the compute-slice product, the dashboard, the API, and the overlay network. It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. A violation of this AUP is a violation of the Terms.

2. Prohibited activities

You may not use the Service to, or to facilitate anyone else to:

• Fraud— chargeback fraud, payment fraud, referral-fraud, fake reviews, fake accounts, impersonation, or any other scheme designed to extract money or value dishonestly.
• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)— create, request, transmit, store, or promote any content that sexually exploits minors. This is a hard zero-tolerance line; we will suspend immediately and report to NCMEC and applicable law enforcement.
• Spam, scraping, and ToS violations on third parties— bulk unsolicited email, bulk account creation, automated scraping in violation of a target site’s terms of service or robots.txt, credential stuffing, or rate-abuse against any third-party service.
• Malware distribution— host, transmit, or operate command-and-control infrastructure for malware, ransomware, botnets, phishing kits, keyloggers, or cryptocurrency-stealing software.
• Undisclosed crypto-mining or hidden compute— use a rented slice or device for cryptocurrency mining without disclosure (Provider must declare mining workload when listing if it is to be allowed).
• Denial-of-service (DDoS / DoS)— flooding, reflection/amplification, slowloris, application- layer attacks, or any other volumetric or resource-exhaustion attack on a third party.
• Harassment, hate, or violent threats— targeting a person or group based on protected characteristics, or making credible violent threats.
• Illegal content or activity— any activity prohibited by applicable law, including (where relevant) drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, identity theft, unauthorized access to computer systems, money laundering, sanctions evasion, and export-control violations.
• Circumvention— reverse-engineering, probing, or circumventing our rate limits, fraud detection, or enforcement tooling; operating multiple accounts to evade enforcement.

3. Rate limits and fair-use

All API calls and proxy connections are subject to rate limits documented in our API reference and connection-acceptance policies. Fair-use bandwidth caps may apply to residential-proxy traffic where required by upstream-network terms (for example, peer-to-peer or streaming targets). Repeated or willful rate- abuse is treated as a violation of this AUP.

4. Residential-proxy specific rules

In addition to Section 2, when using the residential-proxy product you must not:

• Use the proxy for the targets listed in Section 2 (anything illegal or abusive regardless of the network used).
• Use the proxy to obscure the source of any abuse described in Section 2 from another provider, our infrastructure, or any third party.
• Exceed the bandwidth caps or session-duration limits set in the rental’s terms.

5. Enforcement ladder

We enforce this AUP proportionate to the harm:

• Warning— the first step for minor issues (for example, a misconfigured API integration that triggered a fair-use limit). We notify, the user fixes, no service impact.
• Rate limit or feature restriction— throttle the offending account or scope it out of one product while we investigate. Reversed if the user comes into compliance.
• Suspension— temporarily halt the account, the listing, or the rental. The user can appeal in writing.
• Termination (ban)— permanent account closure, no service, no payout until outstanding obligations are settled. Where the underlying conduct is criminal, we will also refer to law enforcement.

Some categories (CSAM, active DDoS-for-hire, malware C2) skip the ladder and go straight to termination + report. We are also required to terminate accounts that are subject to a valid court order or sanctions designation.

6. Reporting abuse

If you observe abuse involving our network, please report it to abuse@rentyourcompute.com. Include timestamps, the source IP(s) or session ID(s) (if available), and a description of the offending traffic. We acknowledge every report within one business day and provide a status update within five business days.

7. Law-enforcement cooperation

We will comply with valid legal process (subpoenas, court orders, mutual legal assistance treaty requests). Requests should be sent to legal@rentyourcompute.com. For emergencies (imminent harm to life), dial our 24/7 line at emergency@rentyourcompute.com.

Users whose accounts are subject to disclosure are notified at least seven (7) days before disclosure, unless we are prohibited from doing so by law or court order, or unless doing so would impede the investigation.

8. Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was issued in error, email appeals@rentyourcompute.com within 30 days. Include your account ID, the action in question, and any supporting context. An operator not involved in the original decision will review and respond in writing.

9. Changes to this AUP

Material changes will be announced by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The current version and its effective date are always shown at the top of this page.
